With that being said, we have the ability to condition ourselves to think positively. We have to consider what internal and external factors that directly or indirectly leave impressions in our lives—impressions that with time condition us. What factors are we entertaining/not entertaining? What are we spending our time doing/not doing? Since we have the ability to condition ourselves, why not move forward with a focused purpose? If each of us is unique, then one’s birthmark or purpose would need to be different from the next person and vice versa. How redundant, uneventful, one-sided, flat, and bland life would be if we all had the same purpose. Variety is the spice of life, so let us be careful to not blend in. Do we blend in and conform because we do not know who we are, so we seek outside definition and validation, rather than looking inwardly to consider one’s thoughts, desires, goals, likes, dislikes, etc. ? Conforming, a mediocre existence, is an excuse for not believing in one’s self and the fact that he or she can embrace difference and be one’s OWN person in a constructive and productive way!
So what am I saying? Embraceyour birthmark! Embrace that characteristic that makes you simultaneously different, special, and unique. Think of yourself, your whole being, as a distinct presence in this world—one that should not seek to fit in, but rather one that seeks to find, cultivate, and nourish that difference that will leave an indelible impression on this world!
That's my twenty-nine cents. Blessings.
